Not to be confused with actor Christopher Lloyd, this Christopher Lloyd made his fortune as co-creator of the series “Modern Family”. Co-created the show with Stephen Levitan. He has also written and produced a number of other popular shows, including “The Golden Girls”, “Wings” and “Frasier”. Between his work on “Modern Family” and “Frasier,” Lloyd won 12 Emmy Awards, a record for a serial producer.

Christopher Lloyd was born on June 18, 1960 in Los Angeles, California. His mother was Arline, while his father was a television producer and screenwriter David Lloyd, who wrote for major sitcoms such as “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”, “Taxi” and “Cheers”, and later “Wings” and “Frasier”. Christopher Lloyd has four siblings: brothers Stephen and Douglas and sisters Julie and Amy.

He began his career in 1986 as a writer on the NBC sitcom The Golden Girls, starring Betty White, Beatrice Arthur, Roe McClanahan, and Estelle Getty, as four older women share a home in Miami, Florida. Lloyd worked as a screenwriter for the first four seasons of the series until 1989, writing such episodes as “Second Motherhood,” “Dorothy’s Outstanding Disciple,” “Mixed Blessings,” “Blind Date” and “Little Sister.”

The following year, Lloyd co-created the sitcom “Back to You” on Fox with Stephen Levitan. Notably, the show featured Lloyd and “Fraser” star Kelsey Grammer, who played a hostile TV news anchor; Starring opposite was Patricia Heaton. “Back to You” was eventually canceled during its first season in 2008.

In 1995, Lloyd married actress, screenwriter, and comedian Arlene Sorkin, best known for playing Caliope Jones on NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” series, and for voicing comic book villain Harley Quinn in a different animated series “Batman.” Together, Lloyd and Sorkin have two sons named Ellie and Owen.
