Astros director Dusty Becker drops Bill Cosby’s name before the World Championships

Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker received a lot of good wishes ahead of Game One of the World Series, including an odd endorsement from Bill Cosby.
Dusty Becker is still searching for his first world championship title, preferring to win one with Houston. The Astros face the underdog Phillies in Game 1 Friday night.

Prior to Baker’s comments, there was no reason to root for him, except for the obvious Astros haters coming back to the signal-stealing scandal. Baker is one of the best men in baseball, and could become the third black coach to win a world championship, joining Dave Roberts and Seto Gaston.
Astros: Why did I drop Dusty Baker’s name Bill Cosby?
It’s unclear exactly why Dusty Baker mentioned Bill Cosby, or why the two were identical before one of the biggest streaks of Baker’s managerial career. Considering the “two friends” would be a stretch from my end, because we don’t know the whole story.
Cosby has charged nearly 60 women with sexual crimes, including rape, drug facilitation sexual assault, sexual battery, pedophilia and sexual misconduct. He was convicted of some of those crimes in 2018, pleading guilty to three counts of aggravated indecent assault. Cosby was sentenced to 3-10 years in prison before this decision was overturned.
Cosby may not be in prison for this decision, but it’s still an odd choice by Baker to bragging about a letter he received from a man many consider a sexual predator.
